This Privacy Policy explains how Black Owned Network LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Black Owned New Jersey mobile application ("BONJ" or the "App"). By using the App, you agree to this Policy.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name.
Content you create. Posts, business reviews, messages, and other content you submit in the App, along with associated metadata such as timestamps.
Photos. If you choose to attach photos, we access your photo library only when you initiate it, and store the photos you upload.
Location. With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby businesses and improve search results. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings; the App remains usable without it.
Usage and device data. Standard technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and diagnostic logs.
We use the information we collect to operate and provide the App's features; display your content to other users as intended by the feature (for example, posts and reviews); connect users with businesses; moderate content, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the community safe; respond to your support requests; and maintain, debug, and improve the App.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
With other users. Content you post is visible to other App users according to the feature you use. Some features display your contributions without your name attached; however, your identity remains associated with your content in our systems.
Service providers. We use third-party providers to operate the App, including Supabase (database, authentication, and storage) and Google (Google Places API, to provide business and location search). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or others.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
To keep the community safe, we review content that users report. When you report content, we retain a copy of the reported content and related account information for moderation and audit purposes, even if the original content is later deleted.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content, except where retention is required for legal compliance, security, or fraud prevention, or where content has been retained as part of a moderation record.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App or by emailing support@bonjapp.com. We will process deletion requests promptly.
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@bonjapp.com and we will delete it.
You can update your display name in the App, control photo and location permissions in your device settings, block other users within the App, and request access to or deletion of your data by emailing support@bonjapp.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws; we will honor valid requests as required by law.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy at this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
